Hi,

I think it would be useful to be able to assign a .apc file to the cleverscope application, so it would be possible to open a saved waveform just by double clicking the file in the windows explorer. If Cleverscope is already opened, I would suggest it just loads the .apc file in the current instance.
At the monent, if I assign the .apc extension to the cleverscope executable and double click on one, it just opens the cleverscope application, but doesn't load the file.

Would this be possible to implement?

Thanks and regards
Alex

Hi Alex,
That is what I thought should have happened. We will investigate.

Hi Roger,
thanks for the reply. I just noticed that there is an update available, I installed it and the function works now, thanks a lot.
I have further questions however, if it's okay to ask them here under this topic:
Are there any changelogs available for the releases?
Is it somehow possible to get notifications of new updates for the application? Under "Help/About Cleverscope..." it shows me that Version 5.0.0 would be the latest one, which doesn't seem right... (see pic attached)

Thanks for your help!
Kind regards
Alex

Hi Alex,
Well, I passed your query on to our application engineer - who said it was a good idea - and he has implemented it without telling me! We do like getting suggestions from our users and act on them when possible.

It should not show a version less than what you have installed so not sure what is happening there. The latest version is posted in a text file on our web server that is read by the programme. On mine it shows correctly but caching may cause it to be incorrect.

Change logs are something I am keen on but are a work in progress - major items are identified but the minor ones often fly under the radar and are there for dedicated to find! I do try to send out an email when we have significant changes but this time I was told it was mostly bug fixes!

Do send through any further suggestions you have!

Regards,
Roger

Hi Roger,

I have a short additional question regarding this topic. I use the Cleverscope application on a laptop in the lab. There I make a measurement and save an apc file. When copy this apc file to my PC in another room and open it with a double click there it works fine.
On the second PC I rearrange the Cleverscope Windows because I have a different monitor configuration compared to my laptop setup. When I save this apc file again, then close the program and try to reopen the apc file with a double click, it doesn't show the waveforms. Also all values in the signal information window stay empty.
The file size increases after saving it on the second PC, I don't even have to rearrange the windows for that, just saving it again does this.
I can open the newly saved file from within the Cleverscope application ('File' - 'Open')

Can you reproduce this?

I am running version 5.5.12 on both machines.

Kind regards
Alex

Hi Alex,
I will pass this on to the coders. I suspect there is something we are missing in saving it the second time, only saving the structure. Look for the next update.

Roger

Hello again,

today I updated the Cleverscope Application to version 5.5.16, however, the issue with open a modified file (see my post on Oct. 22nd) still persists.
Should this have been fixed or was this not part of this update?

How is the work going on the change logs? ;)

Kind regards and have a nice weekend,
Alex
