Hello,
I have made a measurement of Phase/Gain of a PSU using the FRA and saved it to my PC.
When I open it, I see the measurement. I now want to export the plot to a text file, but when I use "Save as text" it only generates a file without the data in it (see attached).
Are there any options I have to change? When I click on "Save FRA result" now in the Frequency Response Analysis, it just opens the file options window.
Regards
Alex

Alex,
Yes, that is not very intuitive and we could assist with an explanation. We have had a discussion and think we might separate the different File Save options to allow you to be more flexible. See the picture attached and set up as per these steps.
1. Click on "Save FRA result"
2. In the drop down box select the "Save FRA results" option
3. Choose the required file type
4. Select a Start and Stop to limit the number of captures or check the Endless box for unlimited files
5. Choose the location and base file name for the saved files
Click OK and the "Save FRA result" will now be green. Run your FRA and the file should be there. Look for an improvement in a future release!

Roger

Hello Roger,
I got it to work now with your tips, thank you.
For me, personally, it would be most logical to just click on "File - Save as text" in the main control panel while the spectrum display is active, just like with normal waveforms. Or at least having this as option if you want to save just a single measurement, especially from an already saved .apc file, which you could also open to repeat a measurement with the tracker for example.
I had to redo the measurements now to get them as text file, even though the data is already in the .apc somewhere (redoing them was no big deal however).
But for now it works, thanks, I'm looking forward to an update simplifying this a bit.

Alex, if the FRA window has the focus then the Save as text should save the acquisition data. I have tested it here and it works for me. Which version of the application are you using?

Hi Roger,
I'm using version 5.5.23.
I get the same result as you when I save it directly from the measurement (with the "Save FRA result" button).
When I use "Save as text" from a saved apc file, I only get an empty file (with header), like the one in my first post.
I also noticed, maybe it has to do with the other forum post I made ("Open .apc file in Cleverscope" under desired features): When I open the apc file with a double click without having opened the application already, the spectrum display window shows no data. The scope display windows does show some curves from the FRA measurement.
When I open the file from an already opened instance of Cleverscope, the spetrum display shows the FRA results.
Anyway, please find attached an example .apc file of my measurement. When I open this file in cleverscope, focus the window, then click "Save as text" in the control panel, I get following output:

Hi,
I have an addition to this:
I made one FRA measurement on my laptop (file1.apc).
Then I opened file1.apc on another pc, rearranged the windows and saved it to file2.apc
Now the FRA results in the spectrum display have disappeared, also the filesize went down from 784 KB to 471 KB.
I can reproduce this with another measurement. Can you tell what is happening here? Maybe it's the same phenomenon that causes the "save to text file" result being empty?
I am attaching both files, pre and after save, to this post.
Thanks, and have a nice weekend.
Regards
Alex

Alex,
The text file issue is now fixed ready for a future release, The issue with the apc file is more complex and we will need to do a bit of work to resolve it. When the File Save was designed it was never envisaged that it would be saved more that once but we can see there are good reasons for it. It has been added to our Updates list.

Roger

Thanks a lot Roger, good to hear you were able to reproduce it and find the issue.
I'm looking forward to the next updates.
