Hi,

when I click the maximize-button in the window controls of the Scope Display window, the window doesn't work as I'd expect it to. Sometimes it does maximize but part of the controls are cut off, some other times it doesn't maximize and jumps back to its old position.
I am using multiple displays and the windows behaves differently on them, either depending on which is the main one or with different resolutions.
There also seem to be some arbitrary steps on which the scope display can get resized, is there perhaps any info on that?
I suppose it's because of the Labview-framework.
But is there maybe a way to make it behave a little more smoothly?

A small oddity: I am using software version 5.5.44, dated June, 2nd, 2026. The current version in the download section dates to February 2026, was there a bug in the June version?

Thank you for your support!

Hello r65,
We decided a long time ago that we liked the grid values on the graphs to be in units of nice numbers - 1,2,2.5, and 5. We also decided that there should be a whole number of grid lines. This meant that channel amplitude values line up, and it is easy to estimate periods just by counting grids. On standard scopes the number of grid lines is fixed to 10 or 8. When you can resize the display, we obviously have to change the number. So we decided that the display would resize in units of grid intervals. This is not smooth, as you say. But it does avoid the difficulty of varying size grid intervals of strange numbers.

So I guess you are stuck with it.

On the Maximize with multiple screens, there is a bug. We will fix it. It particularly affects multiple screens. We will be releasing a new build soon that also adds further functionality on the graphs.

Hello Bart!
Thank you for the quick reply.
I get the point that you only want multiple grid spacings in the graph, that's only logical and perfectly.
However, I think it would already be better if you could maximize the window and then it automatically uses the maximum space available for the graph and then fills the padding around it all the way to the screen edges. To make it truly full screen with maximum graph space on one single click.

Most of the times I have to manually drag the windows just a tiny bit larger so it gets the maximum graph space, and if I drag it a tiny bit too much it jumps back to a seemingly random, sometimes much smaller window size.
Or is that part of the multi screen bug?

Looking forward to the new build!

Alex

Hello Alex,
The maximize was done a long time ago before people had multiple screens!

We agree with you about allowing a smooth drag of the window, while the padding around the plot area changes as you drag the window, and then increases in size in grid spacing chunks. This approach will let us use the native Windows maximize/restore, and be much smoother as you suggest.
Right now we have a major new version to release, and we have decided to put the window changes into the next version. We think that is a couple of days work. We have people who have been hanging out for the changes in the version we are about to release.

So bear with us, a couple of days more! We will let you know when the new windows updates have been made.

regards

Bart

Hello Bart,

alright, no worries. It is not a big deal anyway, I'd rather see new functionality, it's more interesting.
Looking forward to it.
Thanks for your support.

Alex
